Just found this on Hemmings. My grandfather had a purple 1970 Dodge Super Bee back in the day and lived in North Carolina. He didn’t own it for long, and this one is low mileage. I’ll talk to my grandmother and see if it matches her memory, then I may try and contact the dealer.
UPDATE: Talked to my mom; his was an automatic, so it’s not this one. It’s still pretty though.

That’s worth selling body parts for.

My brother had either a 70 or 71 Super Bee. I really can't remember, because I was too young to appreciate anything other than the awesome name.

As a mopar fan, I must admit that the 440-6 is a superior DD performance engine unlike the bi-polar Hemi (especially with their tendency to overheat). Also, plum crazy is best purple.

O man that pretty. My father had a plum crazy charger. His aunt had a challenger with the flower roof

Yup. The dealer sold it for $81,000, which amounts to several body parts.

One of the great things about Oppo is that us enthusiasts are more likely to have enthusiast relatives, which means that our parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/siblings owned some pretty cool cars back in the day.

These were cheap before the muscle car bubble; there are stories about people picking Superbirds and Charger Daytonas up for $500 or some ludicrous number.

I like my V8 Mopars, but there’s something about the Hemi that makes me want one. Maybe it’s how cool they look even when they aren’t moving.

A lot of those cheap Superbird and Daytona stories of the mid to late 70's are true. They were so wild Mopar had a hard time selling them when new. I think the last new one didn't sell until late 71 or early 72. My grandpa bought a new 70 Challenger RT/SE (1 of 500) 440/Auto, sold it in 71/72, due to the gas crunch, for $1600 bucks and it had under 10k miles on it.
